About Me:
My health journey really began in January 2021. Overnight, I gained 15 pounds, started losing my hair, along with developing a host of other upsetting symptoms. Like so many, my concerns were ignored by the medical community.
My first doctor suggested these symptoms could be “anything” and sent me on my way to fend for myself. My blood test had come back showing I had higher than normal cholesterol (I’ve come to find it’s considered a symptom of PCOS), but the doctor told me to just come back in a year.
The second doctor said it was “Covid weight and stress”, and that all I needed was some extra cardio. By this point, I’d also developed extreme fatigue, was irritable ALL the time, and couldn’t sleep through the night. After about 8 months of frantic indoor cycling sessions, Googling my mysterious symptoms and attempting to self-diagnose, I was fortunate to find a doctor who…listened.
She held my hand through the entire process. We found that I have PCOS, Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome, a condition stemming from hormonal imbalances that I’d probably had all my life. These symptoms had just been masked. It took 2 whole years and a lot of research, but I’ve been able to eliminate my symptoms and get my PCOS under control and I can help you too!
I am not a medically trained doctor, but I’ve created CleanRoutine to provide you with the resources I wish I’d known about from the moment my symptoms started. It’s a place for sharing information for those concerned about hormone imbalances, and even those of us who are just trying to stay healthy.
As many as 5-10% of people with uteruses, and likely millions of people have PCOS. It’s about time we started sharing our stories, and stopped the feelings of shame associated. So many of us are going through this, let’s help one another. I hope you find this site as a helpful resource as you navigate your own journey to health.
Love,
Dana
